Long Weekends...
So much going on, where to start?Work wise, things are leveling out. I've still got a full plate until the end of the year and still a lot in the present. However, I'm not as pressed as I have been, so that should help some. I'm still looking forward to Vegas at the end of the month and then some more time off later in the year.
WoW is pretty much the same. We're still going into MC three nights a week and walking out with a fair bit of loot. I'm still in the top 5 on the damage meters (mostly top three). I'm starting to pick up the Arcanist set which is nice. In the almost two years I've been playing this game I've never had anything approaching a full set. I think 4 is the highest number so far. I guess time will tell though.
Things are still a little ruff on Rags though. We just can't seem to survive the first wave of sons. We're getting better, but it's just frustrating at the moment. The same goes for Ony, just can't seem to either get enough people to go, or pump out enough damage to to get her out of the air in phase two.
Odd groups got left, even...
I think the next couple of weeks should see some improvement though. We've got several new people keyed now, and there's been a lot of work on people's FR and greater fire protection potion stores. Time will tell though...
I've also got my priest to 32 now. I'm not sure what's going to come of that when she hits 60, but time will tell. We're really short on healers and the one's we have are getting a little crispy on the edges from lack of support. I also think that's one of the biggest factors keeping us back is while we have a huge potential for DPS, we're just not staying alive long enough to use it.
On another front, I went into my very first AV match this weekend. I'm still wondering why I did it. I'll be the first person to tell you I'm not that great at PvP and it's just not something that interests me other then the odd whim when someone runs by me flagged where they shouldn't be. However, yesterday afternoon I flew into TM, picked up some quests and headed in. There were around thirty or so matches going at the time and I think I waited less than a minute to get into one. It was a new match and was getting ready to start.
The next 20 minutes are something of a blur...
I remember riding out and trying to follow the pack while keeping an eye out and watching the raid chat. I was really pretty clueless about what I was doing but I figured if I kept up with the pack and tried to kill any alliance I saw, I'd be ok. The first thing I noticed is how handy and epic mount in this place is. When we left the starting area, everyone blazed out ahead of me. I followed a couple of people like me with normal mounts and soon found the main group again. There were bunkers and bowmen and just craziness everywhere. I was a little overwhelmed there for a few seconds then a gnome rogue tried to backstab me and I turned around and blasted him.
Nothing like killing a couple of gnomes to get you back to the here and now...
So, I follow the main group, staying back and providing fire support here and there, dying a couple of times here and there and then we were in the alliance general's room. We gank him and then I'm standing back outside the instance with a victory. Four quest turn-ins later and I have a shiny new blue wand and 30g in my pocket. I decided to go back in and over the course of the four matches I played, we won three and lost one. I ended the day half way though friendly with Frostwolves and 225 HKs and 30,000 honor. Now, does this mean I'm going to start doing lots of PvP?
Yeah, not so much...
It was fun, and I can see where people could find enjoyment in it. However, it's a double-edged sword in there. The match will either go really well, or really bad and it seems like there are too many people trying to run the team. The best match I was in had a large guild group from alleria in it and they were perfect. I don't think we could have squeezed another drop of honor or rep out of there. The bad match I had was doomed from the start because we had two groups of people arguing over who's strategy was better and why everyone should listen to them while the rest of us are out there getting our asses handed to us because we have no support.
I'll probably go in there maybe one night a week just for something different. Maybe more on the double honor weekends. I'm eyeing that elite mount at exalted which is cheaper than the racial epic and it would be something different. But aside from that, not really going after any PvP rank or anything like that. I'm an instance runner and raider, that's what I'm good at and what I enjoy.
