WTB: [Hacker's Head] x 1, PST

So, one of our people in the Pod got their account hacked and stolen.

Thay sizes it up pretty well...

This kind of stuff really pisses me off. Not only on the part of the these wastes of carbon hackers, but from Blizzard as well. I mean, I know it's just a game, but players put a lot of time and effort into building their characters up. However, at the end of the day, some scumbag data thief comes along and now it's all gone and Blizzard's response is, to paraphrase, "Well, I guess you're just F'd.".

/sigh

What the hell am I doing in New Jersey...

Read: Dave doesn't know where he's going.
Translation: Dave apparently doesn't know east from west.

So last night I decided to see what downtown Phily was like. I had a map, thought I knew where I was going, but apparently, I had no clue. I started out the right way and then suddenly I was on the bridge heading east into New Jersey.

I was not a very happy person...

After spending 20 minutes getting turned around and heading back the right way, I was back on the right track. Yeah, right back into rush hour traffic. I don't see how people who live in these cities stand it. I guess, after a while, you'd just get used to it. Blah, no thanks.

I finally made it into the downtown area and that's where the real fun began. Narrow streets, people darting in and out of traffic, bicycles, buses, cabs, and the pedestrians. If I had a heart condition, I think I would have checked out right then and there. I've driven in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and LA before, but for some reason this seemed worse. I spotted a parking garage close to where I wanted to be and ducked in real quick.

I'm in the wrong business...

Parking was $4.50 per half hour. $16.00 after 2 hours. What a racket. I mean, I know you have a captive audience, but please.
After parking, I started to walk around. Phily is an interesting city from an architectural standpoint. There's a mix between really old buildings and new, really old technology and new. The thing that amazed me the most is how run down everything looked. I've been in several big cities, but I've never had that feeling of decay as what I felt here. And the graffiti, I think everywhere I looked something had been spray painted. Even heading out of town on the calls I made this week, the stuff is everywhere.

Anyway...

I wandered for about an hour before I walked by a side street and there, in the middle, was this sign.

Fergie's Irish Pub: Traditional Food & Spirits

This place was awesome. Dark paneling, stained glass windows, wood floors, the place just felt right. The waitress was able to tell me about every beer they had down to the smallest detail. I settled on a porter that was brewed just down the street they serve from a beer engine. For those of you who don't know what that is, they store the beer in the basement and hand pump the beer into the glass from the tap at room temperature. They have to keep fresh beer on hand because beer in this style is not pasteurized and they don't put any preservatives in it. It was, in a word, awesome.

There's one thing I've wanted to do for years, and that is to have a place like this back home. Places like that in Oklahoma tend to be more bar and sports bar than what I feel a real pub should be like. To me, a real pub is like a second home. A place you can go, and even if you've only been there once, can feel like a regular. A place you go to have a pint or two with friends, not just just get blitzed. A place that is more character than hype with service and quality that goes beyond price.

Who knows, maybe this trip will yield some inspiration yet...

Connecting... Connecting...

I'm wondering if it's a sign that the first day I decide to start a blog that Blogger goes down for several hours this afternoon.

Heh, figures.

Meet Sabrae

This is Sabrae,

Or what Sabrae would look like is she was "ZOMGEPIKEDKK1337" out.

So I've been playing around on the 1.11 Public Test Realms since I'm a Mage, and this is the mage patch. The only problem is that the queues are like 4000 at a time. At first, I was thinking that it was just people like me wanting to get on and play with the new content.

However, it seems I was quite mistaken.

It seems most people only want to get on the Test Realms to PvP or duel.

For a number of reasons, this really upsets me. To me, the whole point of the Test Realms is to test the new content, and find any problems before the content goes live. But instead, we get these morons doing nothing but clogging the place up corpses and idiocy like "WTF! Y wont ne1 duel me, u guys r noobs.". I mean, yeah, it's cool that you get to run around with all this epic gear. However, if all you're doing is PvP against people around Light's Hope, or dueling outside the cities non stop, go somewhere else.

/sigh

Anyway... So far, I'm ok with most of the changes to the Mage class with what they have so far with 1.11. Of course, it could all change with the actuall release, but we'll just have to see. I'll probably have a better report once I have a little more time to play with it.

But before I leave...

ZOMG! Naxx!

The End Times?

So, I'm on the road again this week for work. While I should be excited about getting out of the plant and doing something different, I dread travel. My luck normally runs something like this.

Get to airport the recommended two hours early.
Get to gate 15 minutes after getting to the airport.
Wait.
Wait.
Get on plane. Wait on idiots who try to take their entire luggage collection onto the plane.
Laugh at people who have to check their bags.
Full Flight.
Sit right behind, or right in front of screaming children.
Arrive at next airport late, have to run across airport for next flight.
Next flight is 30 minutes late.
Repeat experience from first flight.
Arrive at final airport. Marvel yet again at how much damage has occurred to my baggage again.
Go to rental car place.
Wait.
Wait.
Get car, but not the car I reserved or wanted.
Drive to hotel.
Wait.
Wait.
Get room on opposite end of hotel from any door or access.
Room is freezing/sauna.
Mattress is same material as parking lot.
Return trip. Repeat experience from first trip.

Now, as I write this, I'm in Pennsylvania. However, something was distinctly different this time.

Go to airport one hour early.
Get to gate 15 minutes later after going through friendly check-in and security.
Flight is on-time.
Flight is not full.
Children on flight silent for entire flight.
Get to next airport early.
Next gate less than 50 feet from the first gate.
Asked by airline if I want to upgrade to first class for $50.
Does the Pope wear a funny hat?
Next flight on time.
Flight is full, but I'm in first class and don't care.
Get served breakfast on flight.
Food actually good.
Flight arrives on-time.
Get baggage, not as badly damaged this time.
Go rental car place.
On highway 10 minutes later in new Dodge Charger.
Get to hotel.
In room 5 minutes later. Room actually by door on first floor.

Is it just me, or is this a sign of the End Times.

Is this thing live?

So, for some reason, I've decided to become one of the lemmings and start my own blog. Why, at the moment, I'm not really sure. However, maybe it'll be a nice place to rant, share, or just blather. I guess we'll see...
